Steel Design class field visit to the Aggie Innovation Space construction site

Field visit with my Steel Design class to the Aggie Innovation Space construction site, where students observed steel framing, members, connections, and construction practices in the field.

As part of my Steel Design course, I organized a field visit to the Aggie Innovation Space building during construction. The visit gave students an opportunity to observe structural steel systems in an active construction setting and connect classroom concepts with field practice.

During the visit, students explored different steel components, including beams, columns, framing systems, bracing elements, and connections. The experience also highlighted load paths, constructability, connection detailing, construction sequencing, and the relationship between structural design drawings and real construction. Special thanks to the Aggie Innovation Space team for welcoming us and supporting this hands-on learning opportunity.
